Greenwich Hosts Pizza Making Camp for Bloggers

Pizza is love! Ask several adults if they love pizza and for sure, you would get a big YES for an answer.

I've always loved pizza and I've made a few at home in the past. But it's a different experience if you are made to create your own courtesy of a well-known national pizza chain in the Philippines.

Greenwich recently invited several groups of Davao bloggers for a pizza making camp at their Ilustre branch. All of us from the Davao Bloggers Society had no idea that the event would let us make our own pizza because we only expected the gathering to be some of kind of a simple get-together wherein we would get to eat our favorite Greenwich pizza. It was only when the program started that we learned about this very first pizza making camp for bloggers from Mindanao marketing head Arvin Tolentino.

Arvin told us what we're going to do and explained the step-by-step process in making the popular Greenwich ultimate overload pizza. By its name alone, you would know that this pizza has all kinds of ingredients. A male staff assigned to make pizza demonstrated the steps so we would know how to do it exactly. Then it was time to make our own.

After the short briefing, we all got excited just like kids ready to start an art project. So each of us were given an already flattened pizza dough and all we had to do was to put the toppings. We learned that night that Greenwich follows specific steps in putting the toppings and in equal parts. First was the tomato sauce followed by cheese, ham, pineapples, mushrooms, onions, green bell peppers, pepperoni, red bell peppers, olives and more cheese (mozarella this time).

Once we're done, our pizzas were then baked in the pizzeria and after a few minutes, were presented back to us in a box. We were all happy with our finished products which we also ate that time.

What made the event more fun was that aside from making the pizza, we were all taking turns snapping photos of our partner's pizza as they go along. The others were taking live videos on Facebook.

Another exciting thing was the contest for the best pizza maker of the night. Four winners were chosen and each of them got a Greenwich gift certificate worth P500.

The New Greenwich Ambiance

Some of you may have noticed now the new ambiance of the Greenwich store particularly inside Gaisano Mall and the one at Ilustre. Arvin Tolentino revealed that their new design is patterned after a real pizzeria in New York with a pizzeria section that shows how a staff makes pizza from flattening a dough to putting the toppings. He said that their other branches in Mindanao will also be renovated to follow this new interior design which now aims to promote a more relaxed ambiance instead of the usual fastfood feel. This time, they want customers to stay longer in the store and engage in a fruitful conversation.

Greenwich is now part of the Jollibee umbrella corporation. Currently, it has 240 stores nationwide from only 50 back in 1994.
