Davao Guide App: A Very Helpful Tool for Travelers in the City

Davao City offers so many interesting places where people can dine, shop, enjoy entertainment and nature with family and friends. But for visitors, it can be quite a challenge to get the right information and find the place they want to go to.

The good news is that going around Davao City today should be easier, all thanks to this new Davao Guide App. Launched last March in time for the 80th Araw ng Dabaw, this mobile app does not only provide a list of establishments and their locations but also important information for tourists visiting the metropolis. Developed by Cebu-based company InnoPub Media, this very useful tool is supported by the Davao City Government and Smart Communications.

What gives this Davao City Guide App the edge is it provides important information not only about places to go and things to do but also details about heritage sites, nature parks and gardens and other well-known destinations around the metropolis. In addition, the app features updates about the city, a directory of licensed tour guides and useful tips.

LEGO Opens First Store in Davao City

LEGO brings a lot of happy childhood memories to many people who grew up with it and it continues to bring joy to kids of today. Thankfully, those in Davao City and nearby provinces who wish to buy Lego toys need not go to Manila anymore or purchase online. This is because Davao now has its own Certified Lego Store in Abreeza Mall which means even the adults who want to make their childhood dreams come true can very well do so now.

It was last week, Earth Day or April 22 to be exact when Lego and its partners including UNICEF formally opened its 7th certified store in the Philippines and 1st in Davao in the presence of guests, the local media and bloggers. The fun event dubbed "Davawsome Adventure" started with a short program followed by a game for moms and kids and the grand opening of the store.

Lego announced its partnership with UNICEF Philippines to build the first National Centre for Children with Disabilities in Philippine General Hospital (PGH). At the same time, the store through Sharlene Ortiga (LAJ Philippines retail manager) turned over a check worth P500,000 to UNICEF Philippines representative Lotta Sylwander as part of its fundraising drive to raise P10 million for the centre's construction.

Kapatagan Mt. Apo: Dream Destination Finally Reached!

In the first few years of my life here in Davao City, I've already heard about Kapatagan in Digos, Davao del Sur. I've learned about its beautiful location and scenery through the features I've read in the local newspaper. That got me curious but I never had the chance to go there until recently. The long wait (yes almost 20 long years) is finally over.

Not many people are aware that Kapatagan is actually a barangay of Digos in Davao del Sur. It is located on a higher elevation at the foot of Mt. Apo the reason for the cold weather there. The place is also a main producer of Davao's vegetables (sayote, carrots, potatoes, eggplants, cabbage, squash among many others) and one of the two trails used in climbing the Philippines' highest peak (Kidapawan is the other trail).

We went on our road trip to Kapatagan a day after my daughter's grade school graduation and my hubby's birthday which took place last April 1st. I've long been waiting for this adventure to happen and when it was finally time to go, I couldn't contain my excitement.

Satisfy Your Sushi Cravings at Wasabi Warriors

Ask anybody who loves Japanese food what they prefer and surely, sushi will be among the list of their favorites. Sushi today comes in different varieties and sizes and offered by many Japanese restaurants in the city.

But if you're craving for sushi while strolling at the mall, you can head to Wasabi Warriors located at the 2nd floor of Abreeza Mall's Corporate Building. It's a perfect place to have your snacks or meal  before or after shopping or after a movie date, perhaps.

What makes their sushis stand out is they're made from fresh local produce. This means they tap local farmers to supply their ingredients thereby ensuring fresh sushi every day. Interestingly, their sushis are perfectly mixed and formed thanks to the robots they are using.

Make Your Summer The Best Ever

As a kid, I've always looked forward to summer for several reasons. Apart from the fact that school is over, summer means family vacations to places in Luzon and Visayas. Some of the best summer memories I had were in Lubao Pampanga (my Tatay's hometown), Baguio City, Manila and not to forget, Boracay.

Summer holidays when I was much younger would mean a lot of sun exposure without sunscreen whether at the beach or just in the neighborhood biking or flying kites. So you could just imagine the sunburn I experienced back then. But times have changed and with global warming in our midst, it's a must now to be sun-proof.

Thankfully, there are lots of products available these days that can help protect ourselves from head to foot. The sunscreen, for example, now comes in lotion, gel and spray (with before and after sun exposure variants) and there's also sunblock for the face, lip balm for dry lips and even hair and scalp shield. And where's the best place to get all these? Watsons is the right shop to turn to for your summer personal care needs.

Davao Food Appreciation Tour 2017: Food, Fun & Friends

I've  been living here in Davao City for almost two decades now but I must admit that I haven't tasted all of the famous food here nor visited as many popular restaurants in the metro. I've heard about this Davao Food Appreciation Tour years ago and I thought the participants were so lucky to be able to visit different dining places and taste their specialties in a span of several days.

Well this year, guess what? I finally joined the Davao Food Appreciation Tour (DFAT) 2017 last week and the experience was unforgettable. DFAT is a yearly activity created by the Davao Bloggers Society (DBS) for bloggers and this year, our blogger/vlogger friends from GenSan, Cebu and Manila came over. It is a three-day weekend tour of some of the city's well-known restos and cafes that offer scrumptious food, pastries and drinks.
