Davao Guide App: A Very Helpful Tool for Travelers in the City

Davao City offers so many interesting places where people can dine, shop, enjoy entertainment and nature with family and friends. But for visitors, it can be quite a challenge to get the right information and find the place they want to go to.

The good news is that going around Davao City today should be easier, all thanks to this new Davao Guide App. Launched last March in time for the 80th Araw ng Dabaw, this mobile app does not only provide a list of establishments and their locations but also important information for tourists visiting the metropolis. Developed by Cebu-based company InnoPub Media, this very useful tool is supported by the Davao City Government and Smart Communications.

What gives this Davao City Guide App the edge is it provides important information not only about places to go and things to do but also details about heritage sites, nature parks and gardens and other well-known destinations around the metropolis. In addition, the app features updates about the city, a directory of licensed tour guides and useful tips.

InnoPub Media co-founder Max Limpag assured that all establishments featured in the app are legal, licensed and registered. He added that they are now working on the notification and rating systems to further improve the app.

Mayor Sara Duterte also expressed satisfaction over this new development saying that it will help push tourism and education among Davaoenos as well as local and international tourists visiting the city. "Through the Davao Guide app, the public would know about the people of Davao, our history, culture and what the city can offer in terms of tourism and investment," she pointed out.

Interestingly, site markers with quick response (QR) codes and near-field communications stickers have been installed around the city. By simply scanning the code, one can already download information about a particular tourist spot.

Smart Communications has been a major player in making Davao City among the top cities with high-speed internet mobile access to digital services and information through its LTE network. Just recently, it also launched the Matina Town Square (MTS) as a wi-fi hotspot providing free fast internet mobile access to all networks for 30 minutes.
