Smart Padala Unveils Perks for Mindanaoans

I've always been a loyal Smart subscriber. One proof of this is that I've never changed my prepaid Smart number since I had it back in 2001. I've also been greatly satisfied with the developments that this major telco firm has made through the years.

Recently, Smart has been making smart moves. Last August, it improved its LTE (long-term evolution) or 4G coverage in Davao City providing faster and better quality data connection in many parts of the metropolis.

And just last week, the company relaunched its Smart Padala service and revealed some surprises for Mindanao consumers. This "PadaLapit" service makes it easier and faster for people to send money anywhere in the Philippines regardless of the mobile network of  the recipients. Consumers don't have to go far as they can send money by just visiting certified Smart Padala centers that includes sari-sari stores.

I was fortunate to have attended the media launch of Smart Padala together with other members of the Davao Bloggers Society (DBS). The marketing team revealed that there are now 50 Smart Padala centers in Davao City alone and they are targeting to put up 500 centers more in Mindanao or 2,000 nationwide. Currently, there are 15,000 existing outlets in the country.

To send money, one has to fill out a form and after providing the money plus the transfer fee, the recipient will immediately receive a text message. He or she can then claim it at any Smart Padala center in his area.

As a treat to Mindanaoans, Smart Padala has also launched a Christmas Holiday giveaway discount and raffle promo. This campaign offers reduced fees for sending money and pang-negosyo package as well as motorcycles for the raffle.
